One is the loneliest number, and if you live alone you can count yourself among some of the biggest consumers of energy, land and household goods (washing machines, dishwashers, televisions, etc.), according to researchers at the University College in London. Single dwellers reportedely consume 38% more products, 42% more packaging, 55% more electricity and 61% more gas per capita than four-person households. Yikes! If you live a solo lifestyle, this might be a good time to consider looking for a roommate, but if you just can’t picture yourself cohabitating, do all that you can to reduce your trash, energy and overall consumption to make up the difference.
